Guest Speaker at the Mother's & Women's Day Celebration at Myrtle Baptist Church

Join us as we begin our celebration of Mother's and Women's Day on May 12, 2013 with a special talk from Dr. Jervette Ward on More Than Just the Help. The talk will take place in the sanctuary at 9:30am in place of Adult Sunday School classes. More Than Just The Help provides a non-fictional, historically accurate presentation of the lives of domestics in Jackson, Mississippi. The book records the stories of real women who worked as domestics in Mississippi in the 1960s and beyond, and it allows them to tell their own stories in their own words. The book begins with an introductory essay that explores the world and the white high school of Kathryn Stockett, the author of The Help, from the eyes of a black woman.
